Course Description

The IPC-A-610 Endorsement is included in the following IPC Certification Programs: Certified IPC Trainer (CIT/MIT), and Certified Standards Expert (CSE/SCSE), Certified IPC Specialist (CIS). 

This certification will demonstrate your commitment to customer quality requirements and greatly assist any company dedicated to ISO-9000 or other quality assurance initiatives. This ensures immediate recognition, legitimacy, and value throughout the electronics industry. It is a comprehensive and technically accurate program with high-quality, detailed instructional plans for training Application Specialists at all levels. Anyone responsible for the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies should consider becoming an IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer. Trainers and quality supervisors versed in electronic assembly are excellent candidates, as well as engineering and manufacturing supervisors with assembly responsibilities.

The IPC-A-610 is a comprehensive knowledge and skills-based training course. The program consists of 7 modules, each covering a different technology or area of soldered electronic assemblies. Module 1 is the mandatory module for the CIS training. All other modules are optional; therefore, CIS training can be customized. All modules are mandatory for CIT and CSE training. There is no hands-on workmanship for this course.

  • Module 1 – General, Foreword, Applicable Docs, Handling (MANDATORY FOR CIS) (Covers Fundamentals, Non-IPC Documents, ESD & Handling)

  • Module 2 – Soldering & High Voltage (Covers soldering fundamentals & high voltage Soldering application)

  • Module 3 – Component Damage & PCB’s (Covers Leaded and leadless devices and laminate anomalies)

  • Module 4 – Terminal Connections (Covers terminals where wire placement, soldering, and inspection are applicable)

  • Module 5 – Through Hole Technology (Covers installation, soldering, and inspection of through-hole applications)

  • Module 6 – Surface Mount Technology (Covers SMT terminations, installation, soldering, and inspection)

  • Module 7 – Hardware (Covers Fasteners, Locking Mechanisms, Proper sequencing and heatsinks)

CERTIFICATION TIERS

  • (CIT) CERTIFIED IPC TRAINER

    CIT’s may be employees of companies that train only within their parent company. CITs are authorized to deliver and administer CIS examinations to individuals who wish to gain certification. The Master IPC Trainer (MIT) is an optional designation for a Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) employed at an official training center.

  • (CIS) CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST

    CIS training and certification is appropriate for any individual that will benefit by having a consistent understanding of the criteria in a standard. Line operators, engineers, quality engineers will find this training and certification beneficial for their knowledge in the electronics industry.

    IPC-A-610 Manual (Class Copy w/Option to Purchase), Downloadable Certificate (Valid for 2yrs). NOTE - A 70% passing grade is required on all Open Book exams.

  • (CSE) CERTIFIED STANDARDS EXPERT

    The CSE is a subject matter professional with a high level of knowledge and understanding of a specific or group of IPC standards. The role of the Certified Standards Expert may vary by organization.

    Downloadable Certificate (Valid for 2yrs). NOTE - An 80% passing grade is required on all Open and Closed Book exams.
